10th ASEAN Executive Forms Business Community

Ten business leaders in Southeast Asia announced plans for the establishment of the ASEAN Business Club. Business groups that will be a place for large companies in Southeast Asia to support ASEAN's community building.
Ten founder of several leading business figures in South-East Asia Advisory Board that will be in charge of shaping and determining the formation of the ASEAN Business Club.
Advisory Board Members it is Dato 'Sri Nazir Razak, Group Chief Executive, CIMB Group, Dato' Sri Tony Fernandes, AirAsia Group Chief Executive Officer. Both are from Malaysia.
From Indonesia there are Chairul Tanjung, chairman of CT Corporation, and Patrick Walujo, Chief Executive Officer of Northstar Pacific. Furthermore, the representative of Singapore is Simon Cheong, the founder of SC Global Developments, and Chew Gek Khim, Executive Chairman of The Straits Trading Company.
Meanwhile, Chartsiri Sophonpanich, President of Bangkok Bank, and Tos Chirathivat, Chief Executive Officer of Central Retail Corporation representing the business people of Thailand. From Jaime Augusto Zobel represented the Philippines de Ayala, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ayala Corporation, and Cezar Consing of the Rohatyn Group.
"Advisory Board will determine the names of business leaders in Southeast Asia to be invited to become members of ASEAN Business Club," said Dato 'Sri Nazir Razak in a written statement, Thursday, May 26, 2011.
According to him, the establishment and implementation of organization's activities will be conducted under the supervision and direction of the Board of Advisors. Forum for business people that later will collect all the influence, commitment and energy of business leaders in Southeast Asia, in an effort to realize the ASEAN integration.
"ASEAN Economic Community is a form of commitment to the countries in the region in creating a common market and production base in the countries of Southeast Asia region in 2015," he said.
The group that formed later will become a single economic entity, being the third largest economic power in Asia with a population of 600 million people and gross domestic product (GDP) of more than U.S. $ 2 trillion.
"ASEAN should not only be a vehicle for the government. The development of an ASEAN Economic Community shall be initiated and run by the business community," said Razak.
Role of ASEAN Business Club will not only be connecting the ASEAN secretariat, the private sector, and government, but also provides a network system that will connect business leaders and companies in Southeast Asia.
The container business in Southeast Asia it will be partnering with CIMB ASEAN Research Institute that will support from the administration and research.
